A STEAM Teacher Training

Date: January 28, 2017, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Venue: Nevada Museum of Art, 160 W Liberty St, Reno, NV 89501

Imagine a blank canvas where you are given the freedom to design a city from the ground up.  What infrastructure will you need and what elements need to go into planning for your city?  What human and ecological experiences might you encounter? Join us for an exploration of this topic through the STEAM lens as we bring together Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math to discuss city planning for the next generation.  We will learn together through a combination of hands on activities and dynamic keynote presentations that will inspire you and allow you to bring the material to life in your classrooms.

Keynote Speakers:

Bonnie Ora Sherk - Cultivating the Human and Ecological Garden
Ms. Sherk is an American landscape architect, planner, educator, international artist and founder of A Living Library which transforms buried urban streams and asphalted pubic spaces into thriving art gardens.
Will Roger Peterson - Building the City of Dust
Mr. Peterson discovered Burning Man in 1994 and is reponsible for co-founding Black Rock City, LLC, which has overseen the design of the Burning Man event for nearly twenty years.
