Date: Saturday, September 9, 2017 @ 8am - 5pm
Venue: Meet at DRI, 2215 Raggio Parkway, Reno, NV 89512

We create lots of garbage each day, bring it to our garbage cans and then usually don’t think about it ever again.  Where does our garbage go and what can we do to encourage recycling in our community?  How can we bring all this trash talk into our classrooms? Join us for a day of learning as we “Follow the Waste Stream.”

Our journey begins at DRI in Reno where we will enjoy a light continental breakfast.  We will grab our garbage, and board the bus to visit the Waste Management Recycling facility, the tipping station and the Lockwood Landfill. Experts from Waste Management and the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection will be with us to walk us through each of these facilities to learn what happens to our garbage.  Back at DRI in the afternoon we will engage in hands-on activities to bring what we have learned back in to our classroom.  Participants will receive 0.5 in-service credit from the Nevada Department of Education.  Light breakfast & full lunch will be provided.  Registration is free and space is limited.  Please only sign up if you can guarantee you’ll be in attendance.
