Note that this workshop is geared at grade 4-8 educators, but all are welcome!

This half-day workshop will provide a snapshot of the renewable technology research being conducted at the Desert Research Institute. We will hear from atmospheric scientists and use Science Alive's Green Boxes to conduct hands-on explorations. Particular emphasis will be placed on renewable power, bioenergy and energy efficiency.

Why attend?

    • DRI scientist Dr. Eric Wilcox will provide an overview of Nevada's energy landscape and highlight his solar forecasting research.
    • Ph.D. student Yang Han will lead educators through a tour of DRI's energy lab where he's converting algae into biofuel.
    • Participants will engage in earth and physical science-themed activities and walk away with tangible resources for classroom implementation.
    • Teachers who complete the training will be eligible to receive 4 hours of credit from the Nevada Department of Education.
    • Registration is free! Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
